Dr. Noura Al-Amro Elected as Vice-Chairperson of the HRC Advisory Committee

GENEVA: Dr. Noura bint Mazyad Al-Amro of Saudi Arabia has been elected as Vice-Chairperson of the Advisory Committee of the UN Human Rights Council, (HRC), the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.

According to the SPA the development would enhance the effective role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the field of human rights on the international scene.

Dr. Noura will represent the Asia Group in the office of the Advisory Committee of the Geneva-based global body.

This election shows the global community’s recognition of the effective contributions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the HRC, its efforts to enhance international human rights law, and its active role in prioritizing human rights issues on the global scene. This election also depicts the credibility enjoyed by Saudi experts at the international level.

Dr. Al-Amro in her remarks said that her election to this prestigious position shows the successes achieved by Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.

She said that human rights have been placed at the top policy priorities in the Kingdom.
