RAWALPINDI: In commemoration of Kashmir Solidarity Day, the Punjab Arts Council (PAC) presented a drama titled “Khoon Ki Wadi,” based on the atrocities inflicted by Indian forces upon the Kashmiri people in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Saqib Rafiq, President of the Board of Management of PAC Rawalpindi, graced the event as the chief guest. The play, penned by Aamir Zaryab and directed by Muanwar Afridi, featured a talented cast, including Arshad Khan, Karim Khan, Shazia Sheikh, Rabia Shah, Yaqub Sheikh, Kashif Raza, Hamid, Parvez Malik, Saim, and others.
Through their performances, the artists vividly portrayed the harrowing realities of life in Occupied Kashmir.
Speaking at the event, Chief Guest Saqib Rafiq condemned the unprecedented human rights violations committed by India in the region. He lamented the silence of global powers on these atrocities and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri cause.
Rafiq emphasized the importance of the United Nations’ intervention in resolving the Kashmir issue and commended the actors for their stellar performance.
Waqar Ahmed, Director of the Arts Council, highlighted the significance of August 5, 2019, when the special status of Kashmir was revoked, igniting a stronger spirit of freedom among Kashmiris. He criticized the silence of international bodies such as the United Nations and the European Union on the grave human rights abuses in the occupied valley.
The play attracts a large audience from the twin cities at the Arts Council.
