ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) recalled three batches of the Dolor DS painkiller syrup manufactured by Adamjee Pharmaceuticals Karachi, citing insufficient elements to treat patients effectively.
DRAP’s alert specified that Dolor DS 100mg/5mL Suspension (Batch # 1236, 1237, and 1238) lacks the necessary quantity of Sodium, posing the risk of adverse reactions in patients.
The regulatory authority cautioned that the use of this painkiller syrup could lead to bodily pain, weakness, throat swelling, and eye infections. Adamjee Pharmaceuticals has been instructed not to distribute the affected batches for sale.
Consumers are advised to discontinue using this product if it bears the specified batch numbers. Additionally, they are urged to consult their physician or healthcare provider if they have encountered any issues related to the use of this painkiller syrup.
The DRAP alert further directed pharmacists and chemists to promptly inspect their stocks, cease the supply of the affected batch, and quarantine the remaining stock of Dolor DS for return to the supplier or company. Regulatory field forces have implemented enhanced surveillance measures across all federating units, including DRAP and Provincial Health Departments, to ensure the effective recall of defective products.
