LONDON, England: A merchant ship sustained damage from a drone attack in the Red Sea near Yemen early Sunday, with no reported injuries, according to a British maritime security agency.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations, managed by the British navy, reported the incident about 65 nautical miles (120 kilometers) west of Hodeida, Yemen’s port city. The attack involved an uncrewed aerial system (UAS), causing damage to the vessel. Fortunately, all crew members are safe, and the ship is en route to its next port of call.

Investigations into the attack are ongoing, with no specific attribution provided by the agency.

In response to escalating incidents, the US Central Command disclosed destroying three Houthi nautical drones in the preceding 24 hours. Concurrently, the Houthi rebels launched three anti-ship missiles into the Gulf of Aden, resulting in no injuries or substantial damage reported.

These developments mark another chapter in the ongoing conflict involving the Houthi rebels in Yemen, who have targeted shipping in the Red Sea amid broader regional tensions.
