LAHORE: A drone carrying drugs with an estimated value of millions of rupees crashed in Lahore’s Kahna town, specifically in the Halloki area, as reported by the police on Friday.

According to Abdul Wahid, Station House Officer (SHO) of Kahna, the incident occurred in Rasoolpura village. The drone, larger in size than usual, was found to be transporting six kilograms of heroin when it crashed into the fields owned by a local landlord identified as Rozdar.

Upon the crash, a crowd gathered around the drone, and subsequently, the police were alerted and called to the scene. SHO Wahid confirmed that both the drone and the seized drugs, which hold a value of millions of rupees, have been taken into police custody.

He further added, “They have been handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further investigation regarding the origin and intended destination of the drone.”

Use of Drones for Drug Smuggling

This incident follows a previous case earlier this year in which the Narowal police apprehended five suspects allegedly involved in cross-border heroin smuggling facilitated by drones. During their investigation, the police also confiscated a control device, eight batteries, and automatic weapons.

The use of drones for illegal activities, such as drug smuggling, has become a growing concern for law enforcement agencies. Authorities continue to enhance their efforts to combat these illicit operations and prevent the misuse of drones for criminal purposes. The Anti-Narcotics Force will conduct a thorough investigation into this latest incident, aiming to uncover the network behind the drone operation and disrupt the narcotics trade.
