DUBAI: The world’s largest aerospace company and leading provider of commercial airplanes, Boeing has announced an order of 45 737 MAX aircrafts from SunExpress airlines at Dubai Air Show.
The company said that the order for 45 planes — 28 737-8s and 17 737-10s could be extended to 90 aircraft. The deal could double the Turkish-German carrier’s fleet of 66.
Max Kownatzki, CEO of the low-cost joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa at the signing ceremony said the deal worth more than $5 billion is the largest order in the history of SunExpress.
He expressed the joy that the airline will be having the MAX aircraft in its fleet which is fuel efficient.
Emirates airline has also hinted to announce new orders this week, while there are speculations that Turkish Airlines is poised to book about 350 craft.

A week of deals would underscore airline sector’s recovery from the Covid pandemic, which caused havoc to the sector as international travel ground to a halt.
Last week Emirates Group said that it has earned half-year net profits of 10.1 billion AED ($2.7 billion), up 138 percent from a year earlier, because of the strong demand.
The company in May revealed annual profits of $3 billion. Emirates, the Middle East’s biggest airline posted a $5.5 billion loss in 2020-2021, its first in more than three decades. During the Covid pandemic it had to ground its fleet and make heavy lay-offs.
