Dubai Trains 1,000 Emirati Students in Engineering and Technology

ISLAMABAD/ABU DHABI: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a training of 1,000 students in the remote educational programme that started in November 2022 and ended in January 2023.

A programme included diverse specialties such as electrical and electronic engineering, engineering technology, software engineering, science, civil engineering, computer science or cybersecurity.

RTA 1,000 Emirati Students

According to Emirates news agency WAM, Director of Human Resources and Development, Adhari Mohammed of RTA, said that the training programme for 1,000 students targeted outstanding Emirati graduates to the hone their skills in future significantly needed by RTA to enhance their capabilities. It also provided placements for the outstanding graduates within the RTA.

She said that “RTA set out a roadmap for the programme such that it could achieve a targeted result.” “We coordinated with top universities and educational institutions, compiled the information of outstanding students, and listed the names of tutees according to the current and the future vital disciplines needed by the RTA. Then we have listed the strategic partners in various specialised fields related to RTA. A specialised training programmes had been identified by partners namely Deutsche Bahn, International Association of Public Transport (UITP), International Road Federation (IRF), ERTICO, and Keolis-MHI,”.

The programme included 27 engineering and future disciplines that RTA needs such as civil engineering, software engineering, electronic and electrical engineering, information technology, entrepreneurship, innovation, or marketing. It has focused on areas of infrastructure, smart cities, railway operation, asset management, future foresight, cybersecurity, autonomous and project management. Students selected from seven universities and private and public educational institutions.

Specific criteria had been set for the selection of the affiliated students. students have to be people of the UAE, the field of study has to be within a discipline needed RTA, graduation was not more than the three years, and have achieved a GPA of 3.5.
