LONDON: Buckingham Palace has announced Duchess Sophie’s new royal role, following in Kate Middleton’s footsteps during the Princess of Wales’s battle with cancer.

The palace shared on its official website that the Duchess of Edinburgh will read a bedtime story on CBeebies to commemorate World Sight Day. This appearance mirrors Kate Middleton’s participation nearly two years ago.

According to the statement she will share the tale from “Specs For Rex” by Yasmeen Ismail, which tells the story of a little lion reluctant to wear his new glasses to school. Despite his attempts to hide them, Rex’s large, round, red specs eventually lead him to earn a gold star, make a new friend, and, most importantly, see better.
