LONDON: Despite facing criticism for their decision to arrive in India at the last minute, Ben Duckett is confident that England can excel in the upcoming Test series against India.

Currently, training in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Ben Stokes’s side is set to travel to Hyderabad just three days before the first of the five-test series begins on January 25.

“We have a substantial squad with us, engaging in daily hours of training. Touring in India often confines you to the hotel, but being in Abu Dhabi allows us the luxury of exploring for an additional 10 days. Touring in India is renowned for its challenges, as everyone is well aware.”

The psychological aspect of the game holds equal significance, and the squad doesn’t seem to mind spending 10 days in Abu Dhabi, UAE instead of being confined to a hotel for the same duration.

However, cricket experts argue that this timeframe may not be sufficient for acclimatization to conditions in India. Duckett supports the decision to arrive late, highlighting the concerns over the duration and quality of warm-up matches in the already seven-week-long series.

He told the media that there are training every day and they are hitting thousands of balls, with the bowlers bowling to them. He added that they might face a 15-year-old off-spinner in the nets but that is not really going to equip them for the first Test game.
