Delft, Netherlands: Dutch researchers test out an electric bike equipped to collect data that they hope may one day save lives. The “Delft SenseBike” is kitted out with an array of laser sensors and scanners, with the aim of building a three-dimensional picture of surroundings on cycle paths in the bike-loving country. This could then be used to help bicycles recognise obstacles and also to help cars predict cyclists’ behaviour, and thus avoid accidents.
