Earthquake Hits Northwest Pakistan

PESHAWAR: An earthquake of 4.7 magnitude on the Richter Scale jolted some parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Swat, on Tuesday, local media reported.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the earthquake was felt in Swat and the adjoining areas in Northwest Pakistan. Initial reports suggest that no loss is reported in the area.

The depth of the earthquake was recorded at 192 km, and the epicenter of the quake was in the Hindu Kush Region in Afghanistan.

Earlier, on August 28, a quake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale also jolted several parts of KP including in Swat, Malakand, Lower Dir, Mardan, Kohat, Mohmand and adjoining areas.
