ECP Announces Polling for Senate Seat on 25 January

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said on Monday that the polling on the Senate seat that fell vacant after the resignation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Faisal Vawda would be held on 25 January in the Sindh Assembly building.

Voting will take place from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The public notice for inviting candidates’ nomination papers will be issued on 4 January. The papers can be submitted from 5 to 7 January, while a list of nominated candidates will be published on 9 January.

Moreover, 12 January has been fixed as the deadline for the nomination papers’ scrutiny and 14 January is fixed for filing appeals against rejection or acceptance of the nomination papers. 

The last date for disposal of appeals by the tribunal is 18 January and the revised list of the candidates is set to be published on 19 January. While the deadline for the withdrawal of the candidature in 20 January.

ECP Seat declared vacant after Vawda’s resignation

The Election Commission has called upon the Sindh Assembly members to elect a candidate to the Senate’s general seat from the province which had been declared vacant after the resignation of Faisal Vawda. Vawda was elected for a general seat in the Senate elections 2018 from Sindh.
