PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Saturday filed a review petition at the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against its single-bench decision on the election symbol of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The high court had dismissed the ECP verdict on PTI’s petition. The electoral body had declared the PTI’s intra-party polls “illegal” and stripped it of its ‘bat’ symbol.
While announcing the verdict, the PHC suspended the ECP’s order and restored the party’s symbol ‘bat’ till a final decision on the petition. The court had also stated that a double bench will hear the matter after winter vacations.
In its petition, the ECP has requested the PHC to review the ruling on PTI’s intra-party elections – a decision related to the election symbol.
