ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has designated 16,766 polling stations as highly sensitive and 29,985 as sensitive due to prevailing security concerns.

The ECP spokesperson announced that polling station officials would be vested with first-class magistrate powers to maintain law and order, with the Pakistan Army deployed outside the most sensitive stations.

The ECP will utilize the Election Management System (EMS) for result transmission and editing, ensuring transparency. Despite security measures, there are no plans to shut down the internet on Election Day.

With 90,675 polling stations and 266,398 booths established nationwide, over 1.49 million election staffers are ready for duty in two shifts round the clock. The ECP has issued comprehensive guidelines, including grievance cells and media coordination, for smooth polling operations from February 8 to 10.
