ECP Sets Deadline for Political Parties to Submit Financial Statements

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued a reminder to all political party heads to submit their consolidated statements of accounts for the financial year 2023-24 by August 29, 2024. This submission, as mandated by Section 210 of the Elections Act, 2017, must include detailed financial records audited by a Chartered Accountant.

The Consolidated Statement of Accounts, filed on Form-D, should reflect the party’s annual income, expenses, sources of funds, assets, and liabilities. It must be accompanied by an auditor’s report and a certification from an authorized office-bearer affirming that:

No funds were received from prohibited sources.

The statement accurately represents the party’s financial status.

The information given is true to the best of their knowledge.

The accounts are audited by a Chartered Accountant with a detailed report included.

Form-D can be obtained free of charge from the Election Commission Secretariat in Islamabad or from the offices of the Provincial Election Commissioners in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. It is also available on ECP’s website.

Submissions should include a legible copy of all bank statements for the period from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, along with a bank reconciliation statement. These documents must be delivered in person by an authorized party office-bearer to the Secretary, Election Commission of Pakistan, at Constitution Avenue, Islamabad. Submissions via mail, fax, or courier will not be accepted.

The ECP emphasizes the importance of adhering to these requirements to ensure transparency and accountability in political financing.
