LAHORE: President Dr Arif Alvi said that education, welfare, health, and women empowerment were the most significant factors for the sustainable growth of any society.

Improvement needed in Health, Education Sectors

It was very unfortunate that, at present, almost over 20 million children were out of school in Pakistan, and it was very urgent to enroll them, he added.

Dr Alvi said it was highly important to promote the concept of inclusion and oneness in society.

“If we look around, almost every family has a child who is deprived of any one of the five basic senses”, Arif Alvi observed.

President Alvi said there was a need to change attitudes and approaches of society towards

differently-abled persons, and there should be job opportunities for them to match their abilities.

He said, “Only about 9 percent of our FSC students go to universities, and about 18 to 20 percent of students reach the intermediate level, which is not an agreeable percentage at all.”

Dr Arif Alvi said that inflation was the major challenge and it was very important to control it in the larger interest of people and the country.

Later, President Dr Arif Alvi and First Lady Samina Alvi visited different projects of the differently-abled students and also talked to them.

The students also briefed Dr Arif Alvi and First Lady about their research and creative work.
