Efforts Underway to Revive Pakistan’s Economy: Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has stated that the government is working diligently to steer Pakistan’s economy out of a difficult situation and put it on the path of sustainable economic growth.

Speaking at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Dar highlighted the expected commitments of friendly countries to Pakistan, which will help close the deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and revive the economy.

While addressing the gathering, Dar acknowledged that Pakistan had been a rising economy in 2016 but has since been facing serious economic challenges.

Ishaq Dar assures Pakistan will not default

However, he assured that the country would not default and that the government was making all possible efforts to revive the economy.

President ICCI, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, urged the government to ensure consistency in economic policies to enable the business community and investors to invest in Pakistan with confidence.

Bakhtawari assured the government that the business community would fully support its efforts to revive the economy and highlighted Pakistan’s various business and investment opportunities for diplomats.

Senior Vice President of ICCI, Faad Waheed, emphasized the need for exports to overcome Pakistan’s foreign exchange crisis and expressed his hope that foreign diplomats would fully cooperate with Pakistan in realizing this goal.

Vice President ICCI, Engineer Azhar ul Islam Zafar, thanked the chief guest, diplomats, and all the participants for attending the Iftar dinner and suggested that a more conducive business environment would allow the private sector to improve the economy’s health.

The Finance Minister reiterated that Pakistan’s economy was not in a state of default and that the government is committed to making all possible efforts to steer the economy out of the current challenging situation and put it on the path of sustainable economic growth.
