CAIRO: Egypt aims to strengthen cultural and tourism connections with BRICS member states, according to a report from the Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center.

As Egypt becomes part of the intergovernmental grouping, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, cultural initiatives are identified as key components of Egypt’s “soft power.”

Egypt’s emphasis on cultural diplomacy is reflected in its ranking of 31st globally in the 2022 Global Soft Power Index, marking a 3.3-point increase from the previous year.

To strengthen relations with BRICS Plus member states, Egypt plans to establish cultural centers in countries like China, where the Egyptian Cultural Office actively promotes Egyptian-Chinese ties.

In August, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi expressed appreciation for Egypt’s invitation to join the BRICS group.
