CARIO: Egypt issued directives to all of its airlines to avoid Iranian air space for a three-hour period on Thursday amid tension between Iran and Israel. The NOTAM, a safety notice has been provided to pilots on Wednesday, said the direction would be in effect from 0100-0400 GMT.
“All Egyptian carriers shall avoid overflying Tehran. No flight plan will be accepted overflying such territory,” the notice stated, referring to the three-hour period provided. Earlier, on Sunday, Jordanian officials also asked all airlines landing at its airports to carry forty-five minutes’ worth of extra fuel.
Various airlines are revising their schedules to avoid Lebanese and Iranian air space while also calling off flights to Lebanon and Israel as many fears a possible broader conflict following the killing of senior members of Hezbollah and Hamas.
Nations in the region, including Jordan, also closed their airspace earlier this year amid aerial attacks on Israel.
