The government has urged the citizens not to be misguided by news spread by some media outlets and to get their information from its official sources.

The reports claim that the $1,000 fees are to be used to legalize and improve conditions for foreigners unlawfully residing in Egypt.

Earlier Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly issued a decree saying that foreigners illegally residing in the country must legalize their stay by following new regulations.
