Egypt’s President Discuss Gaza Situation with Dutch PM, Calls for Ceasefire

CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi discussed developments in the Middle East and the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip in a telephone call with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

During the conversation, El-Sisi addressed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and highlighted Egypt’s efforts to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the region.

He cautioned against the prolonged Israel-Hamas conflict, highlighting the potential for an expanded conflict that could jeopardize regional and international security. El-Sisi urged international support for a ceasefire and the protection of civilians in Gaza.

Prime Minister Rutte commended Egypt for safeguarding civilians and evacuating foreign nationals and the injured from Gaza. The Netherlands expressed support for Egypt’s relief efforts in Gaza and pledged ongoing collaboration to foster regional stability.

In a separate meeting with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, El-Sisi warned of the risk of regional military escalation on multiple fronts. He called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and stressed the critical importance of providing urgent humanitarian aid to the enclave.

Minister Gerapetritis expressed Greece’s support for Egypt’s pivotal role as an “indispensable cornerstone” for stability in the Middle East. Both parties concurred on the imperative need for a comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue, considering it a central factor for regional peace and security.
