Muslims slaughter sheep, goats, cows and camels, following the example of Prophet Ibrahim who sacrificed his son to show obedience to Allah Almighty. In the Islamic calendar, Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah.

Pakistan has an estimated population of more than 200 million and about 95-98% of Pakistanis are Muslims, thus Eid-ul-Adha is a very special occasion for them. The Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on Monday, June 17th.

The cattle markets have been set up in all cities of the country including Rawalpindi and Islamabad however, most citizens are complaining about the high prices of sacrificial animals, especially goats and sheep.

It is pertinent to mention that this year people are slaughtering animals due to high inflation while the sale of the tools required for the purpose has also dropped.
