ISLAMABAD: In preparation for the upcoming general elections, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has formally requested the deployment of the army to ensure security during the electoral process.

In a letter addressed to the Ministry of Interior, the ECP emphasized the urgency of this request and sought a comprehensive security report by November 27.

The communication from the Election Commission underscores the existing shortage of police personnel, prompting the proposal for the deployment of the Pakistan Army and other law enforcement agencies to fill this critical gap.

Election Commission of Pakistan’s Commitment to Hold Transparent Elections

The letter emphasizes the commitment of the ECP to uphold the principles of fairness and transparency in the electoral process through constitutional and legal measures.

The ECP has called for detailed information regarding the availability of security personnel in all four provinces and Islamabad. This initiative aims to ensure a robust security framework that can effectively manage law and order during the electoral proceedings.
