Embassy of Nepal in Pakistan Hosts Reception to Celebrate National Day

ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of Nepal in Pakistan on Friday hosted a reception to celebrate the Constitution Day and National Day of Nepal.

Federal Minister for Power, Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari was the chief guest on the occasion.

Ambassador of Nepal, Tapas Adhikari expressing his views highlighted the importance of the day in Nepal’s history and its role in national unity in a country of diversity like Nepal.

He further said that the Constitution of Nepal embodies federal system of governance and democratic norms and values as well as principles of human rights and human dignity.

“The Constitution is not just a document; it’s a social contract that upholds the values of modern democracy, placing inclusivity at the heart of its vision,” he said.

Speaking on Nepal-Pakistan relations, the ambassador said that the two countries enjoy excellent bilateral relations marked by cordiality, friendship and cooperation. He also highlighted the significance to further expand and diversify the relations to their potentials for mutual benefits.

He noted many Nepali students are studying in Pakistan in the field of medical and engineering under technical assistance program and those who have completed their courses are now contributing to their respective fields in Nepal.

The ambassador added Nepal and Pakistan are founding members SAARC and members of the United Nations with the commitment to the charter of these organizations. “Both countries have been consistently collaborating in bilateral, regional, and multilateral forums, working towards the common goals of promoting peace, stability, and development,” he said.

Ambassador of Nepal, Tapas Adhikari said Nepal and Pakistan are actively engaged in advancing key agendas, including sustainable development, climate action, and environmental protection, recognizing that these efforts are crucial for the well-being of our nations and the world at large.

“Nepal, recognized as a global hub for mountain and adventure tourism. It is a learning center of mountaineering. A large number of foreign tourists including many from Pakistan visit Nepal for trekking, mountaineering and adventure related activities,” said the envoy.

Speaking as Chief Guest, Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari congratulated the government and people of Nepal on behalf of the government of Pakistan.

He also highlighted the excellent state of bilateral relations between Nepal and Pakistan.

A large cake was also cut on the occasion. Earlier in the morning, the Ambassador hoisted the national flag of Nepal in the Embassy premises. Nepali citizens living in Pakistan also attended the ceremony.
