ISLAMABAD: Masood Khan, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, on Sunday called for forging new linkages between Pakistan and the United States in many fields, including technology, education, and research, during a visit to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Speaking to the university students, he said that one of the critical features of US-Pakistan relations is that it is people-centric, while people-to-people relationships have been at the heart of these ties.
Ayesha Ali, Pakistan’s Consul General in New York, accompanied the Ambassador.
Masood Khan highlighted that links between the two countries’ researchers, scientists, and academics have always been an essential component of such people-to-people relations, and interactions in the higher education sector between the institutions of Pakistan and the United States are a key dimension of the overall partnership.
Two governments traditionally accorded priority to education
The ambassador said that it is against this historically rich background that our two governments have accorded high priority to expanding our cooperation in the sector of education.
The Ambassador thanked the Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts, Kumble Subbaswamy, for his support and partnership and assured him of Pakistan’s continued support in building linkages with the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
