ISLAMABAD: In a telephone call on Thursday, Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan urges Russia’s President Vladimir Putin to declare a unilateral ceasefire to end in Ukraine war.
The Turkish presidential office quoted Erdogan as saying that through a unilateral ceasefire calls for negotiations and peace need to be supported and described this step as a vision for a “fair solution”.
Erdogan’s office states that the Turkish President planned to speak on phone with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky later on Thursday.

With good relations with both Kyiv and Moscow, Erdogan has made efforts to mediate with the aim being to end the conflict.
So far, Turkiye has mediated two rounds of peace negotiations early in the conflict and helped ink a UN-backed deal to restore Ukraine’s grain shipments across the Black Sea.
Erdogan has tried a few times to bring Zelensky and Putin to Turkiye for a direct peace summit.
