Ethiopia’s Ambassador Calls on CM Sindh, Discusses Ties with Pakistan

KARACHI: Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jemal Beker Abdula, called on Sindh Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retired) Maqbool Baqar on Wednesday and discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.

The meeting discussed the full gamut of the bilateral ties, including cooperation at bilateral and multilateral levels. Ambassador Jemal Beker congratulated the Sindh Chief Minister on assuming the role of chief executive of the province.

Chief Minister commended the support extended by the government of Ethiopia to Pakistan during the recent flash floods. He also appreciated the remarkable economic progress made by Ethiopia in recent times.  

The chief minister said that Ethiopia and Pakistan have long-standing bilateral ties that have been improving gradually. However, there is a need to explore the immense potential in many areas, including health, education, economy, and others.

Ethiopian Airlines Operations in Pakistan

He appreciated the start of the Ethiopian Airlines operations in Pakistan, which would contribute to the already flourishing bilateral relations by strengthening trade, business, and people-to-people relations.  

The envoy briefed the chief minister about the reforms carried out by Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, in the economic sector of Ethiopia, which became the fastest-growing economy in the African region. He expressed his resolve to take the bilateral ties to the next level.

The ambassador said that Ethiopian Airlines will make it easy for the business community of the two nations to reach out to their markets.
