European Commission Head Meets UAE President

DUBAI: European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called on United Arab Emirate (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

During the meeting, they discussed cooperation between the UAE and the European Union in various areas with a focus on identifying avenues for enhanced collaboration.

Both sides exchanged perspectives on a range of regional and global developments. In particular, they delved into preparations and priorities for the upcoming COP28 climate conference, scheduled to be hosted by the UAE later this year.

Al Nahyan and Ursula von der Leyen emphasized the significance of bolstering international partnerships to devise effective solutions for common global challenges. Their meeting forms a part of President von der Leyen’s official visit to the UAE.

Ursula von der Leyen posted pictures of her meeting with the UAE president and thanked Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the excellent exchanges.

She posted saying, “We both want to make COP28 a success and I look forward to our continued cooperation.”
