ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Chaudhary Salik Hussain on Thursday told the National Assembly that each Pakistani Hajj pilgrim will get back Rs 100,000 as recounting is going on in the ministry.
Replying to supplementary questions during the Question Hour session, the minister said Hajj’s expenses for the current year were already Rs 100,000 less than last year. He said a relief of Rs 35,000 was already given to every pilgrim in airfare during this year’s Hajj.
The minister made it clear that instead of 1400 Moavineen-e-Hujjaj, only 600 Moavineen were selected through the NTS test for the Hajj 2024.
He added the inflow of Sikh pilgrims to the Kartarpur Corridor has come down because of the restrictions imposed by India. He said there was no hurdle from Pakistan’s side. The minister said the infrastructure to receive 5,000 Sikh pilgrims daily has already been in place at Kartarpur Corridor.
He said that the ministry made elaborate arrangements to facilitate the Sikh pilgrims on the occasion of Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary.
Hajj is a sacred pilgrimage and is one of the fifth pillars of Islam. Every year, millions of Muslims across the world travel to Makkah, Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj.
