LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the sale of season passes and tickets for the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In a tweet from the official account of Pakistan Super League on the micro-blogging website Twitter, it was written that fans could book their tickets online for the Multan and Karachi league matches from 11 am on Saturday.
Apart from online booking, cricket fans can also purchase physical tickets during the tournament. The tickets for the matches in Rawalpindi and Lahore will be available for purchase soon.
Tickets for the PSL 8 opening match between defending champions Lahore Qalandars and 2021 winners Multan Sultans at Multan Cricket Stadium on February 13 will be available at Rs 6,000 for VIP enclosures, Rs 3,000 for premium and Rs 2,000 for first class. While for general enclosures, it will be available for Rs 1,000.
On hearing the ticket prices, cricket fans took to social media and slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board for issuing expensive tickets for the PSL eight edition. Suddenly, there were loads of comments under the tweet made by the Pakistan Super League. The cricket fans maintained that instead of buying such expensive tickets, they would prefer to sit at home and watch the matches, and empty seats in the stadiums will be spectators.
Cricket fans taunt PCB over expensive PSL tickets
In this regard, Twitter user Jahanzeb shared a meme and wrote, “There is no money to eat poison.”
Similarly, cricket fans on social media were witnessed crying about the country’s economic condition and inflation. One user wrote, “Does the PCB management live on Mars?” In Pakistan, the inflation rate is more than 40 percent; every day, millions of people are going below the poverty line, and the prices are increasing. In the middle of the PSL 8, PCB will be forced to reduce ticket prices.
As the conversation progressed, a social media user started comparing the PSL matches with the match between India and Pakistan, and the same user taunted the PCB management for the chairs installed in the Rawalpindi Stadium. A social media user, Sheedy, wrote: Why are the seats so expensive?
Earlier, PCB said in a press release that for the first time, the cricket governing body had released highly discounted season passes which include weekday games. This has been done to entice cricket fans to buy tickets to watch some of the best short-format cricketers live in Pakistan’s biggest cricket league.
PCB has also said that one ticket can be purchased on one CNIC. Those who do not have the identity document can purchase tickets using their passport, while those below 18 years of age will need a B-form. All spectators must bring the government-issued identity document (CNIC) with which they purchased the tickets.
Remember that PSL 8 will start from February 13. Rawalpindi will host 11 matches, Karachi and Lahore will host 9, while Multan will host 5 matches.
