QUETTA: At least 26 people were killed and over 62 others injured on Saturday after a blast ripped through a Quetta Railway Station, Pakistan state run news agency APP reported.
Edhi rescue officials told local media that the explosion took place near the railway platform area of Quetta Railway Station, causing significant damage of Railway station’ nearby infrastructure.
An emergency has been imposed in the hospital, additional doctors and staff have been also called for medical assistance, Dr. Noorullah of Civil Hospital Quetta said.
Pakistan state run news agency, APP reported that rescue teams and emergency services were swiftly deployed to the site, evacuating the wounded to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. According to spokesperson of Government of Balochistan Shahid Rind, the nature of the explosion is not clear. Further probe was underway to determine the nature of the accident, official added.
Pakistan’s Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani denounced the blast at railway station in Quetta. In a statement, he expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the incident. He also directed to provide best and immediate medical aid to the injured. He said that terrorists are enemies of humanity who target innocent citizens of Pakistan.
He also reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to take all possible steps for the complete eradication of terrorism.
PM Condemns Quetta Blast
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the blast and expressed deep grief over the death of innocent people. He also expressed condolence to the bereaved families, and prayed for granting fortitude to bear this loss. The PM sought a report from the government of Balochistan and issued directives to provide best medical treatment facilities to the injured people.
Mohsin Naqvi Calls for Unity Against Terrorism
According to APP, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the blast that took place near Quetta Railway Station on Saturday, expressing deep grief and sorrow over the tragic loss of lives.
Naqvi extended heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the blast and offered prayers for the swift recovery of the wounded people.
Naqvi also emphasized that the terrorists responsible for targeting innocent people are undeserving of any leniency, reiterating the government’s resolve to bringing them to justice.
The Minister also remarked that no amount of condemnation is enough for such a terrible act, underlining the need for national unity to overcome threats to the nation’s stability.
Labeling the incident as a cowardly attempt to sow chaos, the Minister assured the public that the country would stand united to counter these malicious efforts.
CM Balochistan Condemns Quetta Explosion
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti Saturday expressed his deepest condolences over the tragic loss of life and those who sustained injuries in the Quetta blast.
According to APP, he denounced the Quetta blast, saying that police and rescue teams swiftly responded to the spot. He also emphasized that the terrorist attack targeted innocent civilians, which is completely inhumane.
The CM has directed the authorities to provide all necessary resources as well as support to expedite the investigation and bring the committers to justice. He also stressed that the investigation will be thorough, transparent and swift, ensuring that those responsible for the terrible act will be held accountable.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman Condemns Quetta Blast
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed deep sorrow and condemned the recent bomb blast in Quetta, calling it a tragic and condemnable incident. He said that news of the deaths and injuries of numerous people has left him deeply saddened. The JUI chief offered his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families affected by this tragic incident.
