ISLAMABAD: Reports circulating in the media about the former captain of the Pakistan national cricket team, Sarfaraz Ahmed, leaving the country have sparked confusion and concern among cricket enthusiasts. Various news outlets claimed that Sarfaraz Ahmed, disheartened and hopeless about his future in the national team, had supposedly relocated to London with his family.

According to these reports, Sarfaraz Ahmed was said to have taken this decision after being dropped from the national cricket team, and it was further mentioned that he planned to participate in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 9 matches, representing Quetta Gladiators.

Sarfaraz Ahmed Terms Media Reports Baseless

However, in a conversation with a local news outlet, Sarfaraz Ahmed vehemently denied these rumors and criticized the media outlets for spreading unverified information. Expressing disbelief and dismay over the news, the former captain insisted that such reports were entirely baseless.

“I can’t even think of leaving Pakistan. Confirm before running such fabricated news,” Sarfaraz Ahmed emphasized during the interview.

The news outlet has reported that Sarfaraz Ahmed is refuting the claims of his resettlement to the UK and has asserted his commitment to staying in Pakistan.

It is crucial to note that Sarfaraz Ahmed holds significant achievements in Pakistani cricket, being the first captain since the legendary Imran Khan to lead the team to a 50-over world title during the Champions Trophy in 2017. Additionally, he led Pakistan’s Under-19 team to a World Cup title in 2006.
