WASHINGTON: Former U.S. chief medical advisor Anthony Fauci and billionaire George Soros have not stated that they would leave the U.S. if former president Donald Trump wins 2024 presidential election.
A widely circulated Facebook post shared a screenshot of an X post featuring pictures of Fauci and Soros with the caption: “BREAKING: Dr. Anthony Fauci and George Soros say they will leave the U.S. if Donald Trump becomes President this year. What’s your reaction?”
The original post comes from an X account known for sharing unverified claims. In February, Reuters debunked similar false claims from this account, which alleged that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were planning to leave the country if Trump won the election. The account, “Donald J. Trump News,” explicitly states in its bio that it has “no affiliation” with Trump.
There are no credible media reports or public statements from Fauci or Soros indicating any plans to leave the U.S. if Trump wins. A spokesperson for Soros confirmed via email that Soros has not made such a statement. Similarly, a spokesperson for Fauci affirmed he has never indicated any intention to leave the country over the election outcome.
