WASHINGTON: An image of former US President Donald Trump taken during a 2022 rally in Ohio has been shared on different platforms of social media with captions claiming it was taken during the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC) and is evidence that Donald Trump did not suffer wound to his right ear in Saturday’s assassination attempt by an assassin.

On Monday, Donald Trump wore a bandage over his right ear at the RNC in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in his first public appearance following the July 13 attempt on his life at a Pennsylvania campaign event.

Social media posts on Monday shared a cropped low-quality photo with the caption, “This photo of Trump was taken today. There is categorically nothing wrong with his ear, and it has zero injury, from a bullet.”

However, the photo shared online is a cropped version of an image taken at a September 17, 2022, rally in Ohio. The unaltered image shows Donald Trump standing behind then-Senate candidate J.D. Vance as he spoke to the crowd. Trump has announced Vance as his vice-presidential running mate ahead of the November 5 polls. According to some section of media, a photograph of Trump without an injury to his right ear dates to 2022 and was not taken following a July 2024 assassination attempt that wounded his ear.
