LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has strongly rejected claims made by a British newspaper that the final of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy could be moved from Lahore to Dubai if India qualifies.
The PCB reiterated its commitment to hosting all tournament matches, including the final match in Pakistan.
“Despite the current political tensions between India and Pakistan, the PCB is resolute in its efforts to ensure a successful and uninterrupted tournament,” the board stated. A PCB spokesperson stated, “There is no truth to the reports claiming that the Champions Trophy finale might be moved outside Pakistan. We are working hard to ensure that all preparations for the tournament are proceeding as planned, and we are confident that Pakistan will host a remarkable event.”
Additionally, the cricket board has started several upgrades to stadiums across Pakistan to accommodate the anticipated influx of fans and international cricketers. These renovations are part of the PCB’s broader strategy to improve the country’s cricket infrastructure and establish Pakistan as a premier cricketing destination.
The 2025 Champions Trophy is set to occur from February 19 to March 9, with a reserve day on March 10. Matches will be played in three cities: Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
Lahore will also host seven matches, including the final, while the National Stadium in Karachi will feature the opening match and one semi-final. Five matches will take place in Rawalpindi, including the other semi-final.
The semi-finals are slated for March 5 and 6 in Karachi and Rawalpindi, respectively, leading up to the final in Lahore on March 9.
