WASHINGTON: A viral clip of a man dragging a woman into a room does not show US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden, despite social media posts sharing the miscaptioned footage.
A June 9 post on social media said: “Will our biased and corrupt judicial system prosecute a fellow Democrat?”
The social media post also includes a screenshot of a circulated video on social media with the caption: “Hunter & Diddy Must Be Brothers.”
The 41-second footage begins with a woman running out of a room and a man chasing her. Once caught, he appears to forcefully drag her back into the room. However, Reuters reported that the footage does not show Hunter Biden, contrary to what social media posts claim.
The video can be traced to a May 22 post on Chinese social media platform and was also uploaded on websites featuring content around the same date. None of the social media posts mention Biden or identify the individuals in the footage. However, spokespeople for the White House did not issue statement over the development. According to Reuters, the footage does not show Hunter Biden and termed the footage as misleading.
