ISLAMABAD: A false news circulating on some section of media and social media claiming that weapons dealers in Yemen offers sand-coloured Pakistani-produced Glock pistols for around $900 each. Sources said that the news regarding Pakistani-produced pistols is completely baseless and termed it a shape of fake news. It said that the aim of such disinformation campaign is to damage Pakistan’s relations with friendly nations.
Talking with WE News, prominent analyst Professor Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal said that these manufacturers the exact copies of pistols. He said, “The small arms proliferation has multiplied due to the increase of intrastate conflicts and insurgent’s asymmetrical warfare strategies,”.
He said, “Today, these groups manufacture state of the art of the small arms and their ammunition in their makeshift factories located in the ungovernable peripheral regions of the politically unstable states like Yemen, Syria, etc. notably, these manufacturers the exact copies of pistols, guns etc,”.
Defense analysts said that fake news and disinformation is worldwide issue and media organizations should demonstrate responsibility while reporting. They added that some section of media often reports misleading content to mislead the people by design for political gains. According to experts, a section of media always demonstrates bias approach over the issue and express concern that the same media avoid to give coverage to news and evidences regarding availability of foreign made weapons in Afghanistan after withdrawal of foreign troops from the country.
Analysts said that solid evidences showed that the weapons left over by foreign forces in Afghanistan are being used by terrorists in terrorist activities against Pakistan, which has witnessed a drastic increase in the recent days. According to media reports, foreign made weapons are easily available for terrorists in Afghanistan. It is evident that terrorists are blatantly using the arms left behind by foreign forces in Afghanistan to damage regional peace. A huge quantity of foreign made weapons including AK, RGP Launcher, RPD LMG and 8MM have been recovered from the procession of terrorists in Pakistan.
