ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Tuesday rebutted reports claiming there would be a public holiday on May 25 (Wednesday) to observe Pakistan Martyrs Day, saying the rumours are based on fake news.
While sharing the fake notification about the holiday, which was issued on Tuesday afternoon, the ministry issued a rebuttal on Twitter, adding that the news was not only fake and disseminating but also a disservice to the nation.

Information Ministry Seeks Discourging Fake News
It added that everyone has a responsibility to reject such irresponsible activities, adding that the notification regarding the reported holiday on Mortye Day was fake.
It is worth mentioning here that a notification was circulated via media saying that the federal government had declared May 25 as a public holiday.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Private Schools Federation (APPSF) maintained that all private schools and educational institutions would remain closed on May 25. Meanwhile, board exams would be held as per schedule, but regular classes would resume on May 26.
