ISLAMABAD: Fans of legendary Qawwal and Naat Khawan Amjad Sabri observed his 8th death anniversary on Saturday.
He was son of Ghulam Farid Sabri and nephew of Maqbool Ahmed Sabri of the Sabri Brothers. He established himself as one of South Asia’s most prominent qawwali singers.
Amjad Sabri’s also recited most famous kalaam of Sabri brothers, ‘Tajdar-e-Haram’ and ‘Bhar Do Jholi’. He was awarded Pride of Performance and Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his services in the field of Sufi music.
Amjad Sabri was fatally shot on June 22, 2016, 16th of Ramadan. Unidentified assailants opened fire at him near his home in Liaquatabad, Karachi.
