ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security agencies along with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in a joint operation on Sunday busted an international human trafficking network, operating in the country, local media reported.
Acting on intelligence reports, the FIA nabbed the group, scamming Pakistani citizens by offering fake overseas jobs.
The gang took away billions of rupees and provided fake documents prepared at their own printing press to the citizens who aimed to settle abroad.
According to the report quoting FIA officials, the printing press created fake documents for different countries, aiding those seeking political asylum.
The group also included individuals from Afghanistan and India, meanwhile, the preliminary investigations revealed that the gang has links to international criminal gangs and exposed an Indian plot to damage the reputation of Pakistan.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the efforts of Pakistan’s intelligence agencies and FIA Lahore on the successful operation, terming it a significant milestone in combating human trafficking.
He pledged to continue similar operations and vowed to tackle the human trafficking mafia with “iron hands.”
