ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has presented Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) senator Azam Swati before the judicial magistrate.
PTI members Babar Awan and Faisal Chaudhary represented Swati in the court of duty judge Waqas Ahmad Raja. The FIA on Saturday registered a new case over Swati’s controversial statement on Twitter.
The case was registered in the agency’s cyber-crime wing on the complaint of FIA’s Technical Assistant Anees ur Rahman under the Defamation and PICA Act. Earlier, a 3-member FIA team raided Azam Swati’s farmhouse in Islamabad to detain him. “Earlier, FIA took me into custody without a warrant, today they have come along with a magistrate which is the proper way,” said Swati in a video message filmed at the time of his arrest. It should be noted that the 74-year-old was arrested from his residence on October 13 and was later released on bail.
