FIFA World Cup 2022: France Outclass Morocco 2-0 to Reach Final

DOHA: France ended Morocco’s FIFA World Cup 2022 dream as goals from  Randal Kolo Muani and Theo Hernandez gave the holders a 2-0 win in their semifinal match and set up a showdown on Sunday with Lionel Messi’s Argentina.

Morocco started the game carefully and did not allow France’s players to touch the ball around three and half minutes after starting the match, as the French guys got control of the ball and a joint move from the right flank, as forward Theo Hernandez did not miss the opportunity to score the goal and led his team 1-0 at the beginning of the second semifinal of the FIFA World Cup 2022. It was Theo Hernandez’s second international goal of his career.

After going in a 0-1 deficit, Morocco players created an occasion to make the score 1-1 in the 10 minutes, as the shot was accurate and on target, but the opponent goalkeeper gathered the ball cleanly and made an unsuccessful attempt. Meanwhile, another occasion came in the 15th minute to square the score, but Morocco players failed to dent France’s defense. In a counter-attack, in the very next minute, Antonie Griezmann wasted a golden chance to double the lead of defending champions, as the ball went out after hitting the right-side goalpost.

Morocco earned a corner kick in the 43rd minute of the match, as a wonderful back kick by J Yamiq came back after hitting the goalpost, as woeful Yamiq could not level the match 1-1 just a couple of minutes from the break. France’s defenders fully concentrated on their job as they halted Morocco’s forwards from making a goal before halftime. The scoreboard stayed at 1-0 after the first 45 minutes.

Later, in the second half, Morocco players displayed top-quality soccer skills and attacked thrice in a row in the 53rd, 54th, and 57th minutes, as they got golden opportunities to bounce back in the game, scoring a goal.

Finally, in the 79th minute, a substitute player Randel Kolo Muani doubled France’s lead after touching the ball, which threw into the goal as he (Randel Kolo Muani) received the ball from the left flank, as all defenders were beaten. Forward dodged 4 players before passing to Kolo Muani. After dropping 2-0, the Morocco players started sledding with opponents, as the referee quickly managed the game.

During the injury time, Morocco wasted chances thrice to reduce the deficit. At the final whistle, the score was 2-0 in favor of defending champions.

The finalist teams of the FIFA World Cup 2022, Argentina and France, have won the world cup title twice in football history. Argentina won the title in 1978 and 1986, while France claimed the title in 1998 and 2018. The third-place match between Croatia and Morocco will be played on December 17 before the title fight.
