DUBAI: For many football fans, it was a surprise, but for Layla Abdullatif, a Lebanese astrologer, it was no surprise at all that Morocco qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2022 semifinals by thrashing the favourite Portugal 1-0 on Saturday.

It was such a shocking defeat that football great Cristiano Ronaldo was in tears when he went out of Al-Thumama Football Stadium after the game was over.

Now Morocco could dare think the impossible, as the North African side coach Walid Regragui said: “Why should not we dream of winning the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar?”

Famous for her close-to-perfect predictions, Abdullatif had thought it all possible and posted a video on her YouTube channel and Instagram where she said: “In the FIFA World Cup 2022, there is an Arab team and that team will qualify for the world cup semifinals.”

Since then, her posts have gone viral online, with thousands hoping that her predictions would all come true.

However, Abdullatif insists that she cannot predict about the future and that she depends on intuition. Before the football World Cup launch, she had also forecasted that Saudi Arabia would surprise Argentina. Saudi Arabia beat Lionel Messi’s Argentina 2-1 in the current FIFA World Cup group stages.

About Morocco’s chances of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup final, Abdullatif preferred to avoid making another prediction and only wished Morocco the best of luck in the semifinal.
