ISLAMABAD: The economic dividends of Balochistan’s natural resources are reaching the local population of the prince, with major contributions from the Oil and Gas Company, Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL).
According to local media, the company has completed many projects in Bolan, Quetta, Harnai and Ziarat areas of Balochistan at a cost of 743 million rupees.
These projects include initiatives in education, health, electricity, gas supply, water supply schemes and infrastructure development. The Pak Army and FC Balochistan (North) have provided security for these projects.
In response to the damage caused by recent floods, the MPCL has constructed 45 houses for those in need. Additionally, the company has given employment to 150 to 200 local people across all its fields.
Local residents, including Masood Ahmad from Rahahshi Machh and other citizens from Mich, have expressed their satisfaction with the development efforts. They underscored the positive impact of such development on education and the provision of new houses.
MPCL officials stressed that these efforts show the tangible benefits of Balochistan’s natural resources for the local population, countering any claims to the contrary.
Last month Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had reiterated his government’s resolve to ensure the development of Balochistan, stating that the welfare of the people of the province was its top priority.
Chairing a high-level meeting to discuss the key issues of Balochistan province he said the government was providing equal opportunities for education and employment to the youth of Balochistan to play a role in the development.
Earlier, Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti said the province was a suitable region for foreign investment and the provincial government would provide all facilities under one roof to domestic and foreign investors through the one-window operation.
