RIYADH: The inaugural office of the Airports Council International (ACI) for Asia-Pacific and the Middle East was officially opened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Monday, with distinguished attendees including Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Transport and General Authority of Civil Aviation Chairman, Saleh Al-Jasser, along with top officials from 49 countries.

The ACI is a global organization comprising airport authorities, focused on harmonizing industry practices and standards in collaboration with governments, regional members, experts, and international groups.

During the inauguration ceremony, Al-Jasser emphasized that the newly opened office would play a vital role in expanding opportunities within the aviation market and advancing the interests of member airports on the global stage. He also noted that it underscores Saudi Arabia’s prominent position in international organizations and its significant role in the aviation and air transport industry.

Established in 1991 to cater to the needs of Asian airports, the ACI for Asia-Pacific and the Middle East underwent a merger in 2006, consolidating the Asia and Pacific offices into a unified entity known as the ACI Asia-Pacific and Middle East office. Currently, this office boasts 131 members representing 49 countries, overseeing 617 airports across Asia, the Pacific, and the Middle East.
