RAWALPINDI: Five khwarij were killed as Pakistan’s security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt by a group of khwarij of Fitna al Khwarij at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in a press release on Monday.

According to ISPR, on the night of 18/19 August, movement of a group of Khwarij, who were trying to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, was picked up by the security forces in Bajaur district.

Pakistan’s security forces effectively engaged and thwarted their attempt to infiltrate. Resultantly, five khwarij of Fitna al Khwarij were sent to hell, while four khwarij got injured, ISPR stated.

However, during the intense exchange of fire, three soldiers identified as Naik Inayat Khan (age: 36 years, resident of Khyber district), Lance Naik Umer Hayat (age: 35 years, resident of Mansehra district) and Sepoy Waqar Khan (age: 25 years, resident of Peshawar district), having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat, ISPR stated.

Pakistan has consistently been asking the interim Afghan Government to ensure effective border management on their side of the border. The interim Afghan Government is expected to fulfil its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by khwarij for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Security Forces remain committed to securing its borders. “Such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” ISPR resolved.
