Five Soldiers Martyred in IED Blast in Northwest Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Five Pakistani soldiers were embraced martyrdom when a bomb went off in the country’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, the military said in a statement on Friday.

The Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said that an improvised explosive device (IED) hit a security forces’ vehicle in general area of Sadda of the Kurram district.  As a result, five soldiers of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom.

The martyrs include Havaldar Aqeel Ahmed, Lance Naik Muhammad Tafeer, Sepoy Anush, Sepoy Haroon William and Sepoy Muhammad Azam Khan, the ISPR statement read.

“Sanitisation of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists present in the area, and perpetrators of this heinous act will be brought to justice,” the ISPR statement said.

In a similar incident on June 9, seven Pakistan Army soldiers, including a captain, were martyred after an improvised explosive device (IED) hit the vehicle of the security forces in Lakki Marwat district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
