Fog Disrupts Traffic on Motorway in Punjab

Fog engulfed the Punjab section of the motorway, which disrupted vehicular flow on Monday morning.

The motorway from Muridke to Samrial, Lahore to Sialkot and the M-2 motorway from Lahore to Sheikhupra were opened on Monday after the visibility improved. The three motorways were closed to traffic on Friday due to the low visibility.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast mainly cold and dry weather in most parts of the country. However, it said foggy conditions will likely develop over a few plain districts of Punjab during morning hours.

As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of the country.

Safety tips for driving in fog

The motorway police have asked motorcyclists to use rear fog lights to avoid mishaps and accidents.

They have advised people to avoid traveling on motorways unnecessarily during fog.

Motorway police have warned motorcyclists against fast driving. They have asked them to maintain a proper distance.

Recorded temperatures

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a maximum of 7 degrees Celsius (°C) temperature was recorded in Islamabad, 12°C in Lahore, 18°C in Karachi, 3 °C in Quetta, and 1°C in Gilgit.

Minimum recorded temperatures

Today’s lowest minimum temperatures of -8 in Leh, -6°C in Skardu and Kalat, -4°C in Gupis, -3°C in Ziarat, Astore, Gilgit, Hunza and Kalam and -1 °C Quetta.
