Foggy Weather Increases Demand for Hot Drinks

ISLAMABAD: Foggy weather has increased the chill in the air while the Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.

With the foggy conditions, the demand for hot drinks and high-protein food such as coffee, tea, soup, fish, etc. has increased. With demand for gas increasing in the cold weather, citizens are facing acute problems with low gas pressure.

Several international and domestic flights were redirected to Islamabad, and some were canceled and delayed due to poor visibility and foggy weather. Dense fog is likely to prevail over plain areas of upper Sindh, Punjab, and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Frost is expected in the Pothohar region during morning hours.

Today’s weather

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met) has forecast dry and cold weather in most parts of the country, while very cold in north Balochistan and the upper parts. As per the synoptic situation, continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country.

Air quality

The air quality in Lahore is 177 US AQI; in Bahawalpur, it is 230, 162 in Muridke, and 182 in Rawalpindi. In Sindh, the air quality in Karachi is 180 US AQI, 152 in Mirpur Khas, while Islamabad’s air quality stands at 154. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, air quality is 166 in Peshawar and 53 in Abbottabad.

Recorded temperatures

 According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (MET), a maximum of 5 degree Celsius (°C) temperature was recorded in Islamabad, 6°C in Lahore, 16°C in Karachi, and 3°C in Peshawar, 0°C in Quetta and -5°C in Gilgit.

Minimum recorded temperatures

Today’s Recorded Lowest Minimum Temperatures (°C): Leh -17, Skardu, Gupis -10-12, Astore -11, Ziarat, Kalam -09, Kalat -08, Quetta, Gilgit, Bagrote, Parachinar -06, Dir and Rawalakot -05.
