Footballer Passes Away After Illness During Match

YAMOUSSOUKRO:  Ivory Coast footballer Moustapha Sylla passed away on Sunday after falling ill while playing a match, his club Racing d’Abidjan said.

According to AFP, the 21-year-old football player died while being taken to nearby hospital. In a statement, the club said that their defender Moustapha Sylla passed away this evening after an illness on the ground during the Sol FC vs RCA match.

Club president Logossina Cisse told AFP that during Moustapha Sylla evacuation to the hospital, the defender died. He joined the club last September and was just 21. Football club Racing d’Abidjan were national champions in 2020 and are currently 7th in the championship.
